&lt;p&gt;Thanks for the info.&amp;#160; You are correct that MI prop tax is more than a little confusing.&amp;#160; What if I purchase a vacation home (non-homestead0 and than move into it in a few years?&amp;#160; Can I claim homestead after the initial purchase?&amp;#160; Just curious.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

			<description>&lt;p&gt;I don't believe there is a way to do it online.&amp;#160; Only in person.&amp;#160; I also don't believe there is a fee to file it.&amp;#160; But there could be a fee if you failed to file the transfer form in the required length of time.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

			<description>&lt;p&gt;You need to go down to your city or township and file the homestead exemption form and transfer affidavitt if it hasn't been done.&amp;#160; They should have the forms there.&amp;#160; You should get a copy for your records.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
