Do I have to pay rent to my landlord if my Canton home is in foreclosure?I was asked this question the other day...."Do I have to pay rent to my landlord if my Canton home is in foreclosure?" Yes you do. Just because the landlord is not making their payment to the bank does not relieve you of making your payment to him. Sure it is not fair but if he took you to court or filed a judgement against you the law would be on his side. Sure you could take a chance on him not taking you to court, or the taking the chance of the judge siding with you. But legally you need to make the payment. Once the sheriff sale notice is put on the door you have six months to live in the house from the date of the sheriff sale. Then the bank will start the eviction process after that. But I recommend for you to move out before it gets to that point. Feel free to call me on my cell about other Canton home rentals or Canton condo leases (313) 310-9855
