I hate cancer

I hate to say it but right now I am surrounded by cancer.  My next door neighbor Ed has multiple myaloma,  a good high school friend has brain cancer, and my wife Marianne breast cancer that has changed into a different form of cancer.  Cancer has spread into my life and I can't do anything about it.

The other day I got down.  My high school buddy has had brain cancer for 5 years now.  I think he's been very lucky to live this long.  They do treatment on the tumor spots and knock it down and then it comes back.  For the past five years he's been on Chemo and radiation almost non stop.  But through it all Paul has stayed positive and hasn't shown that the cancer has over whelmed him.

The radiation for Paul has now affected his ability to put sentences together.  He knows what he wants to say b ut he can't find the word.  The radiation has affected some of his motor skills.  They don't want him to drive anymore.  But he made me laugh the other day.  He said he was on Obama's payroll now.  He got approved for social security disability.  So he loves President Obama.  He's on the President's gravy train and Paul is loving it.  Paul is one person that deserves the gravy train.

He's worked hard his whole life.  Tried to acheive the American dream of buying the lake house, building a business, enjoying his grandkids, living out his golden years.  He put everything he had into his work, he gave his employers more than a fair days worth of work.  Paul is one of those nice guys that probably never was in a fist fight in his life.  So it's hard for me to understand how cancer struck him.

Sadly so many families and people like me are seeing cancer first hand hurt their friends and family.  The cancer victims are the heros in this life, staying positive, fighting the best they know how, coping with cancer each day.  I hope they find a cure for at least one cancer in the next few years.  My hopes and good wishes go out to any one out there that helping their friends or family through the cancer fight.  May whatever God you believe in help you through these days.

My quotes of the day:

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars."

                                                                                                                                                     Henry Van Dyke

"You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth"

                                                                                                                                                  Henry Louis Mencken

"There is no such thing in anyone's life as an unimportant day."
