I hate to tell you thisbut your home inspector has protected themselves. When you hire a Canton home inspector or any home inspector in the Metro Detroit area the home inspectors limit their liability. YES you heard me right. Michigan home inspectors have you sign a contract when you hire them. In that contract is a clause that relieves the home inspector of any liability. If the home inspector misses something you can't sue them for damages. So you have no recourse of suing the home inspector for damages for something they did not uncover. You can't sue them for something they missed. The extent of legal liability they have is the price of the inspection. That clause protects them. So the key is to hire a good home inspector. A good home inspector will find the problems in a home. Sure even the best home inspector might miss something. But you should always hire a home inspector. They are your best defense against buying a money pit or an unsound home. But go into a home inspection knowing that you can't sue your Michigan home inspector. Go into knowing into the deal that you aren't protected, that you have no right to legal action.
