Metro Detroit relocation information

So you are going to be transferred and you are looking for Metro Detroit relocation information.

Now you want to know what Metro Detroit is really like.

                                         Are there safe cities?

                                                          Are there good schools?

                                                                                Where should I live?

Which cities are the best for my family and me?

I know the media portrays the City of Detroit as a very bad place to live and that may be true in some instances . BUT MANY OF METRO DETROIT'S SUBURBS HAVE GOOD TO GREAT SCHOOLS AND THEY ARE SAFE TO LIVE IN!!!!!  The media paints all of the Detroit area with a broad paint brush.  But the suburbs are way different than the City of Detroit.

Pull out your map. Find the City of Detroit's and it borders. Knowing the general layout of Detroit and it's suburbs will help you in your Metro Detroit relocation.

Like most of the major cities  Detroit is surrounded by suburbs. One side is the Detroit river and the other three sides are suburbs.  Like many cities around the country the North and Northwest suburbs tend to be more affluent.  As metro Detroit grew, it grew farther and farther away from Detroit. So usually the newest and biggest homes are on the out skirts of the suburbs.

And correspondingly the oldest are the cities closest to the City of Detroit. Add the over flow of crime from the City of Detroit you can basically look at the first ring of cities around the City of Detroit and say they are older and have a higher crime rate. They are the working class cities usually.

They aren't bad cities where your car is going to get stolen every month, or your kids are going to become drug addicts. But these cities will usually have a higher rate of crime, and higher insurance rates. The schools are good. But if you get into the second ring of cities away from Detroit you will usually find lower crime rates and better schools.

Of course there are many exceptions to this generalization. Some cities close to Detroit may have lower crime rates than some cities further out. But this is just a guide. And there are a few cities further out that do have high crime rates.  So if you are looking for a very safe city look farther away from the City of Detroit.

But most of more affluent cities, upper middle class cities, low crime cities are further away from the City of Detroit. The Grosse Pointe cities are an exception. I hope this little bit of information helps you when you finally make your Metro Detroit Relocation.
