Moving to Plymouth Michigan & Plymouth real estateIf you are moving to Plymouth Michigan you might be confused about why they say Plymouth and Plymouth Township. They are actually two different communities. The City of Plymouth is just a small 2.2 square mile area where the downtown area is. CNN Money magazine one named Plymouth Township as one of the top 100 places to live. It placed No. 37 on the list. Plymouth Township has over 28,200 residents (2007) and it's area is 15.9 square miles. Plymouth Township surrounds the city of Plymouth. The township is mostly residential though is does have a commercial corridor along M-14 and I-275. The City of Plymouth's real estate is older around the downtown area. Some of the Victorian, bungalows, and wood homes date back to the 1800's. Many of them are under the 1600 square foot range. But there are newer brick colonials, ranches, and split levels throughout the City of Plymouth. Many of the older homes have been updated with newer windows, remodeled kitchens and baths. Plymouth Township's real estate is mainly in well laid out subdivisions. Some built as late as 2011. We had a building boom from the 1980's to 2005. So Plymouth real estate varies from 1000 square foot ranches to 4500 square foot colonials. There is almost any type of home you want if you are relocating to Plymouth or Metro Detroit in the near future.
