Novi home selling tips - holiday decorations

Here is my latest Novi home selling tip about holiday decorations.  Will a Christmas tree, fall decorations, or pumpkins be a determent to selling your Novi home?  I don't believe having a modest display of holiday stuff up will hurt the chances of selling your home.

If you go overboard it will turn some people off.  You have to remember there are other people that don't celebrate Christmas and Halloween.  Remember some religions don't believe or want their members to participate in some of our American holidays.

Home buyers will remember your house by what is around.  I always remember one house because they had one section of a room was all angels.  We called it the angel house.  The problem with decorating is that you can go overboard.  So keep it simple and keep it small.

The main issue is that the prospective home buyers want to see themselves in your house.  If there is something so foreign to them they can't picture themselves in your home.  If they can't picture themselves in your home they aren't going to buy it from you.

Novi home selling advice

Think back when you were buying a home.... you may not have been able to picture yourself in "that granny's home", or the home that was "southwestern" or the home that was "country".  Or the "halloween home" like above.  It still is the same way.  You want people to picture themselves in your home.

On the other hand I believe in living life.  Enjoying every moment with your family.  I can't imagine skipping a holiday just to sell my house.  I wouldn't want to do it to my kids or my wife.  So make your holidays special, but keep it simple.  If you can put it up for a shorter period of time that would be great too.  That will help sell your Novi home.
