Now when you are looking at Oakland County lakefront homes you may find that actual lakefront homes are too expensive for your budget.  Buying a canal front property can be the way to get on an all sports lake at a less expensive price.

Now where would I recommend to buy on a canal when looking at an Oakland County lakefront home.

Well I would prefer to be at the beginning of a canal.  The water will be less stagnant.  Some lakefront homes at the start of the canal may still have excellent lake views.

The further you get back into a canal the less traveled it is.  So usually the water is more stagnant.  And the weeds can grow.  Of course you can remedy that by putting in a bubbler.

Being at the very end of a canal can be quiet, can have no wake.  Canal homes sometimes give you a chance at a bigger lot, or a bigger home yet still have lake access.

So buying a Oakland County lake home on a canal can get you on the lake at a more affordable price.
