Orchard Lake general information

Orchard Lake has a surface area of 795 acres and 110 feet deep in the deepest spot.  The Lake is located in the City of Orchard Lake Village.  Orchard Lake is an all sports lake and is Oakland County's 2nd largest lake.  Orchard lake has a 35 island called Apple Island.  Years ago there were many apple trees all over the island.  Now the island is a wildlife sanctuary.  Video of Apple Island by the historical society.  There is also another smaller island in Orchard Lake called Cedar Island.

There are 157 lake front homes and 57 Orchard Lake homes with lake access.  There is a public access located on the South Shore of Orchard Lake.  The public access site has parking for 64 vehicles and has public toilet.  There is a no-wake zone in effect within 200 feet of the public access site.  There also is a 40 mph speed limit observed on the lake.  The Lake is patrolled by the Oakland County sherrif on most weekends to promote safe boating so everybody can enjoy Orchard Lake.

Orchard Lake Location

Orchard Lake is located in Northern Oakland County.  The Lake is located south of Commerce Rd, east of Union Lake Rd, west of Orchard Lake, north of Pontiac Trail.  Orchard Lake is surrounded by other Oakland County Lakes.  It is south of Cass Lake, West of Pine Lake, and east of Upper Straits Lake.

Orchard Lake has decent fishing but you should get out there before the lake gets busy.  The fish species that are in Orchard Lake are:
