So you have a whole group of Metro Detroit Foreclosures to look at.  Some are Livonia foreclosures, some are Novi foreclosures and some are Northville foreclosures.  You have a great list of bargain homes.

The banks usually have winterized the homes and shut the electricity off.  This is what you should do, bring, and wear. 

• When going to look at Metro Detroit foreclosures dress warm in the winter.  Wear heavy clothes and boots.  Many times the snow is not shoveled. There is no heat in the home.  If it is 20 degrees outside it is most likely 20 degrees inside too.
• Go to the bathroom before you start looking.  There is no running water or working toilets because the water is shut off.
• Bring a flashlight.  There are dark places you can't see. Especially in the basement with the electricity being off.
• Wear boots and gloves.  Sometimes the places are filthy dirty or there is water in the basement.
• Bring hand sanitizer and nose plugs if you don't like smells and filth.

Here is what to expect.  Many times Metro Detroit foreclosures are in bad shape.  Sometimes the home owners have stolen all the light fixtures and the plumbing fixtures out of the house.  If the previous homeowners didn't have the money to pay the house payment they certainly didn't have the money to keep up the house either.

So take my advice and dress accordingly when going to look at Metro Detroit foreclosures.  You will be more comfortable and be able to spend more time looking at the homes if you are dressed well.
