I grew up downriver in Allen Park, MI. My education was like most of Michigan people, I applied for an in state college. Working to pay my way through college I worked at a variety of jobs to pay the bills. Some of them were pouring basement walls (lots of digging), instructor at Vic Tanny's, landscaping (more digging), working at General Motors Ypsilanti Hydromatic Transmission Plant (working at a machine that drilled 7 different holes in a part).
After going to Michigan State University for two years I decided to enjoy life and backpacked around Europe with some friends (back then it was Europe on $10 a day). In order to finish paying for college on my own, I joined the military and served as a parachute packer for the Special Forces and an infantryman with the 82nd Airborne for 4 years. While in the military I took night classes and graduated with a BA in Business from a small southern college. I met a Southern gal while in the military. We married and for a few years we lived in a hundred year old home on her fathers tobacco farm. I learned how to prime tobacco, raised a couple crops of watermelons on my own. Just think I could have been a gentlemen farmer raising tobacco but things turned out differently.
Fortunately my life took a great turn when I met my wife Marianne seventeen years ago. She slowed me down, settled me down, and gave me a purpose in life. She was just diagnosed with breast cancer at the time. We have gone through the battles of cancer and life together trying to put a positive light on what is handed to us while enjoying life with family and friends. She is full blooded Italian, who loves to cook so it is hard for me to stay slim. Like most parents we have tried to give Ryan more than we had. We sent him to Catholic Central, watching him play football and now he is off to college.
What matters most to you is that I have seven years of experience in the real estate and mortgage field. I have worked with Chase Manhattan Bank helping mortgage brokers structure loans and submit them the right way. I have closed over $100,000,000 of loans in that period and helped many people into homes. I have negotiated some good prices for homes and helped quite a few first time home buyers get their first home. But I am also proud that I have stopped some sales by getting a good inspector, and helped people take a step back when the house they wanted to buy was overpriced. I am the one that will give you the information, the comparables that you can make a sound decision.
My philosophy is be honest to people, give people good service, to charge a little less than your competitor because you will get more referrals and loyal customers. It all comes around to you. Over the years quite a few of my clients have become more than clients they have become friends. I hope that I can earn your trust and friendship.

We got the highest price in the neighborhoodI recently sold a home for a family that has moved back to Japan. They had moved here over 10 years ago to send their boys to the University of Michigan. We got the home ready for sale. As most people know the metro Detroit real estate market has taken a pounding. Many Metro Detroit homes are sitting on the market for months and months.
We sat down together and I told them what they needed to do to get the home ready to sell. The home sold in under 30 days at the highest price for the subdivision in the last 10 months! The homeowner had already gone back to Japan. We had closed with a power of attorney with her son signing for her. But she sent me a short and simple thank you for selling her Brownstown home.
Hi Russ,

Russ Helped sell our house quick!Metro Detroit Real Estate testimonialLivonia MiA year ago my husband and I started looking for a Metro Detroit home with the help of Russ Ravary. We thought this search would take a long time. With the technology we had available we were successful after 3 months. It took us over a year to find the house the last house we bought. We know what we wanted exactly. Russ used the Internet and e-mail to keep us up to date on the houses that had just gone on the market, the length of time they were on the market, and all the public record data. I never thought I would have a house on a lake with all these features My biggest obstacle was putting our house up for sale. When we put the bid on the new house and it was accepted, Russ said it was time to put the old "For Sale" sign up. I wasn't ready! First we hadn't told any of our neighbors, second we weren't quite done putting the finishing touches on the house and third we were going on vacation and I didn't want people in the house while we were gone. It took over a week for me to be convinced that this was the right thing to do. After several talks at our kitchen table I said yes. Russ knew the faster we got the house up for sale in the spring the better our chances were to sell it. The sign went up the day after we left for vacation. I was worried on Sunday because that was the first (and only) Open House. On Saturday we were on our way to the airport to come home, Russ called us with the news...there was a bid on the house! I couldn't believe it the house was sold in a week!!!! Homes in our market were taking over six months to sell. People always ask what we did to sell the house so quickly. My answer is to trust your Sales Agent. He/she is in this business and deals with it everyday so you need to trust his/her expertise. Some of the advice we got was to get rid of the clutter, make it less personal and the big one remove the flowered wallpaper. Russ was forthright in giving advice on how to make the home more saleable. Sometimes I did not like what Russ had to say about the house, but we did what he said. And it worked. We sold it in 7 days for 97% of the selling price. It was a combination of luck and doing the rights things to get the home ready for sale. Russ came through 3 times telling us what to do. Luckily, I (we) listened to what Russ say. I'm so grateful for everything he did for us, we are now enjoying our new home...sorry Russ for making you a little crazy! If you are looking for a home in the Metro Detroit area I would recommend Russ to anyone that wants to sell their home in this tough real estate market. It may be tough to swallow but Russ will tell you the truth about the Metro Detroit Real Estate Market and what you have to do to sell your home http://www.detroitmichiganrealestatehomes.com/003DD4 Posted on Jul 07, 2008 @ 10:43 pm by russ.ravary

Metro Detroit realtor's Military PastJUST A SIMPLE THANK YOU TO ALL OUR TROOPS PAST AND FUTUREMost people now think of me as a Metro Detroit realtor but I like you have a past. I spent four years in the US Military many years ago. I entered the Army as a grunt, an infantryman and did thirteen weeks at Fort Benning, Georgia. I then also spent time at Fort Lee, Virgina learning how to pack parachutes. I then spent 3 1/2 years at Fort Bragg North Carolina. Some of it with the 82nd Airborne as an infantryman as an aide to Colonel Silvasy commander of the 2nd Brigade. Some of it packing parachutes for the Special Forces training school. If you have never been in the Military you don't realize how much you give up when you join the military. You give up most things we civilians cherish. The military owns you. There is no calling in sick. The military comes first over family. Everything you do on and off duty is governed by the military. I thank all of service men and women that have served in the military. Thanks go helping do the things other people can't even imagine. Be proud.I was in the peace time Army I hand it to all of them that been in harms way. Thanks. And my deepest prayers for the families and service men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice. It could be your son, your daughter that gave us the ability to have the freedom we all enjoy. I know my wife Marianne would be devasted if something would happen to Ryan. And I feel for every mother, father, brother, sister that have lost family serving in the military. May you remember all the good things and good times that you had with your hero. I don't know their faces but in my heart and mind they live on. For when we think on Labor Day we think of all of you. Thank you http://www.detroitmichiganrealestatehomes.com/0036A4 Posted on May 26, 2008 @ 8:05 am by russ.ravary

Thanks RussRuss, I want to thank you for all the work you did on helping me lower my property taxes. I got a notice from the city that they were lower my SEV by $22,000. It is not a much as I would like, but it is something. I am saving money. I really want you to know that I appreciate you pulling all the comparables and putting together that CMA for me. The city said I was one of the most prepared. Over the years you have saved me a lot of money. When I did my mortgage back in 2003 you got me a rate that all my friends are envious about. I will never have to refinance with that low rate. I am glad I have you in my corner. If my friends or co-workers ever need a real estate agent or mortgage person you’ll be the first one I’ll recommend. Here is a dinner certificate to show my appreciate for all the money you have saved me over the years.
