Relocating to Metro Detroit transfering home buyers comparing schools

When relocating to Metro Detroit transfering home buyers they are very concerned about comparing school scores when they have children.  Schools and crime statistics are usually a high priority for buyers relocating to Metro Detroit.  They want to have their children go to the best schools possible.  So what makes a better school.  Is it just the scores?  Is it the teachers?  Is it parent participation?

They say West Bloomfield, Birmingham, Grosse Pointe, and Northville schools are some of the best in Southeastern Michigan.  Is it coincidental that those schools are in the highest income areas of Southeastern Michigan?

I say this because a lady I know lives in White Lake and her son went to Waterford schools.  As a Michigan real estate agent i hear that Waterford schools are not the best.  But yet as she points out her friend's son made it into University of Michigan and her son graduated with a four point and was in the national honor society.  The teachers in all the school systems across Michigan have the same degrees?  Do the teacher in the better schools work harder?  Or is because parent demand more of their kids?  Is it because the kids have more pressure and support from their home environment?  So it is somewhat subjective on how good a school is if your parents make you buckle down.

I think one of the keys in your when relocating to Metro Detroit for transfering home buyers is finding not only how the schools are graded but what the percentage of high school graduates go onto college.  As my friend says it also boils down to parental participation and your child's drive.  What do you expect out of your kid's?

I know lots of kids that graduate from the best high schools yet drop out of college or never finish.  So what I'm saying when you relocate to Metro Detroit don't just rely on school scores.  Because South Lyon schools, Royal Oak school, Walled Lake schools, Plymouth-Canton schools, Waterford schools, Livonia schools,  and Huron Valley schools are not sub standard school systems.  They are good schools with good teachers.
