Thinking about selling your Plymouth home - plan ahead

Sometime we start thinking about selling your Plymouth home way before we actually sell it.  At the same time you should start to plan what repairs need to be done to the home.  We all put off repairs because of the time they take and the costs involved.  Most husbands shrug off that honey do list because it is never ending and they hate it.  Larger home improvements are put off over the years because the money is needed for the kids college education, or a vacation.

But now you are thinking of selling and you have this overwhelming list of things to do.  So if you are toying with the idea of selling your Plymouth home in a few years now is the time to start whittling away all those projects.

Is your Formica counter top chipped or peeling away?  Corian or granite are the hot counter tops now.  Upgrading to one of them might be the right thing to do if the cabinets are in good shape.

Have a dark colored bedroom that has stars and moons all over it.  Or maybe you still have dinosaurs or princesses on the wall.  Now is the time to paint it a neutral color.   Prospective Novi home buyers will probably think the same thing.  So paint it.

Have a do-it-yourself project that you never finished?   Maybe the molding never was finished in the one room?   Or cabinet handles never put on?   Or a leaky faucet or slow drain?  Now is the time to do it.  Start a list of things to do to sell your Plymouth  home.  Do one little project a month while you are making up your mind to sell or not to sell.

Do you have that floral wallpaper still up in the bath room or dining room?  Michigan home buyers hate the thought of taking down wall paper worse than you do.  Plymouth home buyers want to move in and do a little as possible.

If you wait to do the list of repairs right before you sell your Plymouth home then the list will be over whelming.  The cost to do all the repairs will be huge.  It is easier to do a job now and then.  Plus the cost of repairs will be easier to swallow.

So if you are toying with the idea of selling your Plymouth home in the next few years feel free to give me a call.  I will be glad to do a free no obligation 15-20 minute walk thru and tell you what will help you sell your home quicker and for more money.  You don't have to do all the repairs I suggest, but when my sellers do what I say the homes sell quicker.
