Wayne County Michigan includes the City of Detroit and is located both south and west of the city.  Some of the cities that are located in Wayne County are:

Allen Park, Detroit, Lincoln Park, Ecorse, Dearborn, Southgate, River Rouge, Dearborn Heights, Riverview, Trenton, Taylor, Flat Rock, Gibraltor, Grosse Ile, Brownstown, Huron Twp, Sumper Twp, Romulus, Van Buren Twp, Belleville, Canton Twp, Westland, Wayne, Inkster, Plymouth, Northville, Livonia, Garden City, Redford, Melvindale, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe, Grosse Pointe Shores, Grosse Pointe Farms, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Rockwood.

The cities closest to the city of Detroit are going to be the cities that have a little more crime, and have lower demographics.  I call it the inner ring around Detroit. 

The further west you go you will find Northville and  Plymouth which are highly sought after cities for people that are moving to Michigan.  Many Ford Motor, Lear, Johnson Controls, and BASF relocation buyers have found homes in Plymouth and Northville.   With good school systems, low crime, and lower insurance rates Wayne County relocation buyers chose Plymouth and Northville as their home.
