What does peeling paint mean? Buying Novi foreclosures

So you are thinking of buying a Novi foreclosure and you see peeling paint all over the house.  What does peeling paint mean?

Quite a few years back a Michigan football player wanted to buy a Detroit foreclosure.  We walked into a home and there was peeling paint through out the house.  He had a Metro Detroit home inspector checked out the home for him.  When the home inspector put a moisture meter on the walls it went off the scale.  The walls were soaked with water.

What had happened was that a pipe had burst.  The water had run for days and maybe even weeks.  The water bill was $4300.

So when you see peeling paint all over in a Novi foreclosure it means that there has been excess moisture in the home.  You need to investigate further to find the water source.  If you chose to move forward and buy the Novi foreclosure you need to make sure your home inspector has the tools to check for moisture.  Peeling paint can be something simple or it can be something major.  I just don't want you to get stuck with buying a Novi foreclosure that will be a money pit.

If you are looking to purchase a Novi forclosure and want to know what to watch our for, give me a call or email me.
