What to expect in condo bylaws

Metro Detroit Condos

Bylaws are the rules and regulations that you will be governed by when you move in.  In Michigan we usually have a condominium addendum that allows the buyer 7 days to read the bylaws and then the buyer can back out if they don't like them.

In the bylaws it usually states

  •  whether pets are allowed
  • whether you have to be approved or accepted as a new homeowner
  • whether leasing the condo is allowed
  • parking regulations
  • outdoor decoration rules
  • noise rules
  • and much more

These are just some of the many rules that may be included in the bylaws.  If something worries you in the bylaws it would be wise to get clarification from a board member, or management association.  Talk to the residents and neighbors to get a feel of the complex.  They can usually tell you what is going on in the complex.

Be sure to ask about past and future assessments.  Take the time to read the bylaws carefully it is important.
