White Lake Township Lakes

White Lake Township is located in Oakland County.  There are over 321 Oakland County lakes which make it metro Detroit's #1 lake County.  White Lake Twp median income is $70,764 and has a land area of 37.2 miles.  3.5 miles of that is water. 

White Lake Township is what I would consider more country living or "up north living".  It's not unusual to see deer or fox in White Lake Township.  There are a mixture of dirt roads and paved roads, new subdivisions, and older homes.  Like most of Oakland County lake areas the original lake front homes around the lakes were lake cottages.  Sometimes as small as 700 square feet.  Over the years some of the old ones have been torn down and newer more elegant lake front homes have been built.  On most of White Lake lakesthere are very few buildable lake front properties or lots left.  Most of the "natural" areas on the lakes are wetlands that can't be built on.

Lake living is the norm here.  Many people that live on White Lake live the lake life style.  That is what lake living is all about, to come home and relax on the lake after a hard day of work.  They love the water and the lifestyle that comes with it.  Whether it is taking a slow ride around the lake with friends on the pontoon boat, fishing in the early morning hours, or taking the kids tubing....White Lake Twp lakes have it all.

White Lake Twp has corner stores, small local owned restaurants.  There are not very many big box stores or chain restaurants in the area unless you go to M-59.  It will take you about 15 -20 minutes to get to a major expressway from White Lake.  But there is fine dining and 12 Oaks Mall within a short drive of White Lake.

The Township of White Lake says it has 21 named lakes in its borders and another website says there are 26.  So who knows who is right.  But either way those lakes cover 2600 acres.
