You sometimes have to look at the other side

In this day and age we are always rushing around.  Many times we think it is all about us.  Sometimes we forget about the other side and what they have to go through.  That they have deadlines.  That they have jobs to do.

What brought up this blog is that Marianne and I were coming home from Chicago after visiting our son Ryan.  On the drive back I was about 3 cars back in a line of cars in the fast lane.  It was only a two lane highway and there were a line of semi's in the right lane.  One of the trucks pulled out into the fast lane.  We were going about 73 miles an hour and unfortunately the truck was going about 60 miles an hour.  Well he pulled out and we all had to slow down.   I'm sure you have had this happened to you before.  Well the truck couldn't seem to go much faster than the truck on the right.

Then we hit a hill and the truck in front of us couldn't pull ahead at all.  So the cars started lining up behind us for about a mile while this truck was getting ahead.  We probably drove this way for 10 minutes.

Sure I'm sure none of us were happy with the slow down.  But when you think about it we only lost a few minutes.  But that poor trucker who makes his living was just trying to get from behind a slow truck.  He didn't want to tear up his gears or use up excess gas or risk getting a big ticket.  He was just doing his job to get his load delivered as quickly as possible.  I'm sure he gets stuck behind lots of trucks and can't pass many times.

So I have to look at his side too.  And not get too excited about being stuck a truck.  Besides it cost me less than 5 minutes.
